First Cutting
A little overdue, but I cut our first crop of mixed lettuce greens this morning. We'll see if "growing it yourself" makes it any more appetizing to the kids tonight!
I do have a ton of things to blog about. I guess I'll have to stop waiting unil the projects are complete to show them to you. Besides, when is a project ever complete? We had a wonderful week with Brian's parents, which kick-started our summer list. New pics of
the girls' room, our garden, & front landscaping coming soon!

Maggie Shares
I volunteered in Maggie's class on Friday. She was the line leader for the day. When you are a helper, like the line leader, you get a chance to share a story with the class. Then the class gets to retell what they heard--it's a good opportunity for them to listen & talk in front of a group. Maggie shared that her grandma and grandpa will be visiting, that the whole house needs to be clean, and that everyone has to clean their own room. That was relatively mild compared to the next boy's story. He told everyone that his mom had gone to a race track where kids weren't allowed. Then he said that his mom's team had won, and she had won $100. I'm pretty sure I want to be the mom that wants a clean house for her in-laws instead of the mom who wins at the race track!
Maggie & Amy have started watching a new Sunday movie, The Testaments (Amy calls it "the Jesus movie). I explained to them how the earth had changed drastically in America when Christ had died. I hadn't realized how deeply my explanation had sunk in until I found this lesson that Maggie had written for Amy (practically word for word) to give at Family Home Evening:

I hadn't realized how deeply my explanation had sunk in until I found this lesson that Maggie had written for Amy (practically word for word) to give at Family Home Evening:

"When Jesus Christ died
the mountains turned to valleys
the valleys turned to mountains
cities were flooded some
cities were destroyed by
fire. Jesus Christ died
so I could return to
him again in the
name of Jesus Christ
Amen"

Yup, that's pretty much what happened! :) I'm anxious to hear Amy share this lesson.
Pinewood Derby
Pinewood Derby Race!!
At the starting line...
Waiting for the cars to race...
Hoping for 3rd place...
James consistently won 3rd place is nearly every race with his vehicle, "The Car." Paul entered the non-regulation race with "Keep on Truckin'" and Scot entered "Flame of Victory." Next year Maggie definitely wants to enter. Amy is still looking for more refreshments. We were impressed with the race track & had a great time watching everyone race.

Copy Cat
I had to let you all know that Paul is the funniest copy cat ever. He's great at copying actions and words. He will say the prayer with you & sing in Sacrament Meeting. Right now my three favorite copy-cat actions are these: 1) Shading his eyes with his hand. I usually do this while we are sitting on the step waiting for Maggie's bus. He'll see me do it and put his hand on top of his head trying to do it too. I also love when he 2) uses the Wii steering wheel to drive, playing MarioKart with Brian & the boys. He's very good at drifting.
And 3) wanting to get his hair combed like the girls. He will sit on the bar stool in front of the mirror and say "ouch, ouch, ouch". Of course, it doesn't hurt him, but he can't not say it--he's pretty sure that's what's involved whenever you get your hair done.
